
Morelia, Michoacán, October 28, 2022- On the World Day of Traditional Medicine, the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM) signed an agreement on cooperation with the Ministry of Real Equality and Development of Women (Seimujer), as well as the Ministry of Social Welfare (Sedebi), with which the institutions undertake to promote and train traditional healers, for greater welfare of the population.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Health of Michoacán, Elías Ibarra Torres and Tamara Sosa Alanís, head of Seimujer, as well as Arlen Nava Reséndiz, on behalf of Carolina Rangel Gracida, head of Sedebi, at a traditional meeting of doctors, in which they presented natural medicine, herbalism and complementary medicines.
This meeting was organized by the Department for Interculturality in Healthcare of SSM and enabled the actualization of traditional doctors, whom Tamara Sosa acknowledged “for returning the knowledge of our ancestors and the knowledge left to us by our grandparents”.
For his part, Ibarra Torres pointed out that the activity performed by traditional doctors is a healthy and valued activity, as well as the activity performed by midwives, for which he pointed out that this profession must not be lost and that, therefore, he will continue with such meetings for the exchange of ideas and Knowledges.
The traditional medicine meeting was also attended by the director of health services, Belinda Iturbide Díaz, and Axayácatl Marín Correa, deputy director of medical attention of the SSM.
