The right to health for all Sonorans will be a reality, thanks to coordinated work with the government of Mexico, through the IMSS-Wellness program, Governor Alfonso Durazo assured.
The President of the State accompanied the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in a working tour of this municipality in southern Sonora to review the progress of the health plan IMSS-Wellness, which seeks to consolidate a universal and free health care system for Mexicans.
In this sense, Durazo Montaño reminded that the supply of medicines and rehabilitation of medical institutions has increased significantly since the beginning of this program, in August of this year, and he cited as an example 100 health institutions that for more than 50 years had remained in oblivion and intervened for the benefit of citizens .
“This is the goal of this program: free basic health services, but also adherence to prescriptions and supply of medicines,” said the head of state.
For his part, President López Obrador reaffirmed his commitment to this universal health system and recalled the commitment to the construction of a new hospital for Navojoa, which will provide medical services to users of the regular IMSS system.
“We have an obligation to health. Together we will build public health to be free medical care and medicines, and what has been started… we will guarantee the right to health… The news that a hospital will be built here is also very good to serve the users of the ordinary IMSS system here in Navojoa”, announced the national president .
Zoe Robledo, head of the Mexican Social Security Institute, reported that more than 700 million pesos have already been invested in this program to improve infrastructure in medical units, as well as to purchase equipment.
“23 units of the first level were intervened, these are the ones we are going to transfer to, 100 last year, 50 this year, and the rest are already in programming, and 15 hospitals, ten general, five comprehensive, those that had rehabilitation of this nature, yes they give us an idea, the investment is of 732 million pesos only in the aspects of infrastructure and equipment”, he commented during the event held at the General Hospital Zone no.
The head of social security added that a tomograph will be installed in the IMSS-Wellness hospital in Navojoa for the care of people in their place of origin and announced that in January 2023 the health staff will be established.
To this, Jorge Alcocer Varela, Federal Secretary of Health, added that in the first three months of the federalization of health services in the entity, more than 12,000 family medicine consultations and 40,000 specializations were performed; More than 105,000 medicines were delivered and an increase in the supply of medicines in the range of 61 to 94 percent was achieved.
Afterwards, Armando Villalobos Godoy, director of the IMSS Welfare Hospital in Navojoa, reiterated the commitment of health workers to this project and thanked the authorities for promoting this issue in the entity, and especially in Navojoa.
