Drew Hammill, spokesman for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, noted that “the attacker is in custody, and the motives for the attack are being investigated.”

He gave more details about the reaction of the police. According to the statement, Capitol Police Special Agents in the California Field Office “quickly arrived on the scene, while a team of investigators from the Department’s Threat Assessment Division was simultaneously dispatched from the East Coast to assist the FBI and San Francisco police in their joint investigation.
“The Speaker of the House of Representatives and her family are grateful to the emergency services and medical professionals and request privacy at this time,” spokesman Hammill added in his statement.
First details
The attacker entered Pelosi’s residence from the back of the house, according to two sources with early details of the incident.
Because the Democratic leader was not there, security guards were not at the residence, according to a source familiar with the protocol.
There may be video that Capitol Police and security forces can review, since there are security cameras in the home, according to two law enforcement sources.
The Pelosi’s have been married since 1963 and have five children.
