Faced with this situation, SSM calls on the population over 50 years old to detect this condition in time, asking for bone densitometry during the actions carried out in state health centers.

Among the risk factors are low calcium intake, excessive alcohol consumption, active or passive smoking (regardless of the number of cigarettes), chronic use of corticosteroids for more than three months and anticonvulsants, long-term immobilization and a sedentary lifestyle, as well as hyper or hypothyroidism, type I diabetes , rheumatoid arthritis and hypogonadism in men.
