Carolina De Miguel Benadiba, president of the Spanish Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (SERMEF), has valued health and its specialty for the past 40 years. In addition, he congratulated EL MÉDICO magazine on its 40 years.
On the occasion of EL MÉDICO’s 40th anniversary, can you look back on your specialty over the past 40 years? What achievements have been made?
Physical medicine and rehabilitation has seen a great change in the complexity and technique of treatments and solutions to deal with high rates of disability.
The fundamental role of our specialty is increasingly recognized because citizens demand effective and quality care for the prevention and treatment of the physical consequences of ailments and diseases.
The specialty is the acquisition of new skills that have been developed over the years in ultrasound, ultrasound-guided and non-ultrasound-guided interventionism, pain management and participation in pain units, osteoporosis, participation in prescribing new drugs and conducting interventionism in the consultation itself that prevents the patient from going to other consultations , which means in terms of time, pain management, economic costs and absenteeism.
We must also highlight engineering applied to exoskeleton rehabilitation, advances in prosthetics and orthotics in the treatment of amputees.
What has EL MÉDICO contributed to the health panorama?
EL MÉDICO has provided the health scene with a professional space for reflection and in-depth analysis of the health scene, which allows experts to have questions and answers at their fingertips on important current topics that require rest and a calmer view.
In today’s health information sector, fast and changing content prevails. A space like EL MÉDICO is needed where professionals can delve into various issues of interest that require their time to analyze and understand. And this is exactly what the DOCTOR achieves. It gives professionals the opportunity to delve into the necessary keys that provide them with current knowledge with rigor and from different perspectives.
Congratulations to EL MÉDICO magazine
From the Spanish Society for Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, we would like to congratulate and praise the professionals who make up the magazine EL MÉDICO for their important job of reporting professionally, attractively and with the necessary rigor and analysis. We wish you every success in the next 40 years
