The Medical Surgeon educational program offered by the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) has received double accreditation, one from the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education (Comaem) and the other from the World Federation of Medical Education, which will allow students to continue their studies abroad.
These two reaccreditations make it one of the best consolidated schools, which offers quality education to students in the region.
During the ceremony held in the hall Lic. Benito Juárez García of that faculty, in front of students, academics, university authorities and the health sector, rector José de Jesús Williams said that students who decide to continue their studies in foreign schools in the United States or Europe will have more opportunities to stay.
“This opens the door for UADY to accept more international students,” he said.
Furthermore, he pointed out that this award confirms the work that the university carries out based on the educational model for comprehensive training (MEFI), with quality and relevance standards.
The director of the faculty, Carlos Castor Sansores, explained that in the case of the Bachelor of Medical Surgeon, he received the national certification awarded by Comaem for the fifth time.
The UADY faculty would be the second higher education institution to receive this international certificate in the southeastern region of the country.
He specified that the acquisition of this international accreditation is a measurable reflection of the quality of the program and results in the dedication of the teachers and the joint work of the unit.
Later, Rector José Williams unveiled a commemorative plaque for those reaccreditations.
