
Head of the Ministry of Health (SSA), Jorge Alcocerassured that by the end of 2022 12 entities of the Mexican Republic They will have service from Social care of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).
This public institution aims to provide free medical assistance to people without social protection. According to the official, this measure aims to implement article four of the Constitution, as well as Health sector planwhose goal is to ensure decent, high-quality care and gender-based access to citizens for the entire population.
The head of the SSA stated the following:
“The goal is that the entire Mexican population has access to dignified, warm, but above all human care. With the highest level of quality and safety in health care, with a focus on gender, human rights, equality and social justice, with the main emphasis on the most vulnerable groups”
According to Alcocer, at the end of 2022 services will be federalized in:
– Colima
– Campeche
– Baja California Sur
-Michoacan
-Durango
– Morelos
– Nayarit
– You start
-San Luis Potosi
– Oaxaca
– Sinaloa
-Sonora
– Tlaxcala
– Veracruz
Currently, they have already been reviewed 340 hospitals and 4 thousand units of the first level. The transformation is based on the improvement of real estate, the equipping of units, the coverage of manpower, the occupation of places, as well as the supply of medicines, it is planned that these units attend in three shifts, 365 days a year.
“We have to check how these units are in each state, the time of completion of the works and the resources that need to be invested. (…) It is necessary to continue working on the homologation of the national model of care according to the model of primary health care”, he pointed out.
He similarly stated that IMSS Welfare it will be adapted to the socio-cultural context of each region, in order to provide a holistic service; At the same time, he noted that it will no longer be necessary to wait for the diagnosis of several specialists, because the first doctor will be the one who will determine the illness of people.
For his part, the director at Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo Aburto, explained that in this first phase the investment will be approx 231 million pesos for carrying out maintenance, renovation and furnishing work. To date, a total of 54.1 million pesos have been spent on conservation actions.
He also stated that there are currently 170 general medicine doctors, 119 specialists, 680 nurses, 134 paramedics, 198 people in the administrative area, 312 general services and one social action.
At the beginning of his administration, the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) promised to consolidate the health system and provide the world’s first medical care. At his press conference on October 25, he confirmed that in Nayarit, Colima, and Tlaxcala, hospital inspection tasks have already begun, and that work will be done in six other states from November to December until the completion of the 12 entities.
“We have already started in three states, Nayarit, Colima, Tlaxcala; and this weekend three more states of Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa; and we want to end the year with six more, three in November and three in December, in order to have 12 in the process of consolidation”, he explained at the press conference.
According to information from the Federal Government, IMSS welfare “It is a public body without sectors, with its own assets and technical autonomy” that strives to offer quality medical care to people who are not connected to any health service.
