With a deep vocation and humanistic feeling, the medical students of BUAP raise the name of the institution and show once again that it is the leader in the education of high medical profiles in the country, not only because of the number of graduated students, but also because of its students who have received recognition for their academic excellence at knowledge competitions in anatomy, neuroscience and histology, among other fields.
Fernando Gatica Soriano, a student at the Faculty of Medicine, was awarded by the Pfizer Scientific Institute (ICP) and the Mexican Association of Medical Faculties and Schools (AMFEM). He received a medal as one of the best students in this field in the country. His high average per generation and career were the main criteria for awarding this award.
Students Manuel Zorrilla Hernández, Luis Eduardo González Hernández and Aldayr Alonso Lechuga, from the eighth, seventh and fourth semesters, who won second place at the XI National Student Competition in Morphology, as part of the National Anatomy Congress, stand out. 2022, where they competed in neuroanatomy knowledge with students from more than 15 universities in the country.
It should be noted that the students competed in three rounds: the first, intra-school; the semi-finals, where they faced peers from the Autonomous Universities of Nuevo León and Baja California, Universidad Veracruzana and Universidad Anáhuac Puebla campus, among others; and the final, which was held personally and orally.
At this congress, BUAP students Priscila Mishelle Bartolo Gómez, Karen Paula Cruz Laureano, Juan Carlos Sánchez Reyes and Jesús Adrián Santoyo Rojas also won second place in the knowledge of embryology; while Gerardo Decasa Pérez, Alejandra Rosario Huerta Mancilla, María Luisa Pérez Sánchez and Cristian Daniel Vargas Alvarado managed to win third place in Histology, which allows BUAP to remain among the first in the country in these tests.
On the other hand, with the paper “Fibromyalgia, eyes that don’t see, brain that feels”, first place was won by students of the Faculty of Medicine, Georgina Cruz Córdova and Edgar Martínez Romero, teacher of the Department of Physiology. at the “Cerebro y Sociedad” neuroscience poster competition, conducted by the Mexico City branch Society for Neurosciencein collaboration with the Mexican Society of Physiological Sciences.
In this way, the Faculty of Medicine BUAP shows its commitment and the historical and extraordinary tradition it has in the training of specialists in the field of health, at the technical, undergraduate and postgraduate level, who contribute to the development of states and countries with great ethics and humanistic feeling.
