A sweet podium, that’s how Checo Pérez described it

The Mexican public surrendered to Checo throughout the race, with the loudest noise coming when Pérez spoke after his third place at the Mexican GP

Besides being second or third, the Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez he said he was happy to be on the podium for the second time Formula 1 Grand Prix in Mexico City.

“It was sweet, unfortunately we had that first stop that affected us, but second or third, it doesn’t matter, in the end I’m on the podium,” said the driver who finished third at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

About the race explained Czech Perez that it was important to be able to overtake Russell on the first lap and then close in on him Max Verstappen Mr Lewis Hamiltonbut then there was a bad stop.

“Then we went to the pits a little early, we had a bad pit stop and I fell behind the Ferrari and lost a lot of time,” he added. “Unfortunately, we could not overtake Hamilton in the first moments it is very difficult to overtake on this track. I was behind him, but I also had a hard time following him, I had to settle for third place.”

AND Czech asked how difficult it is to be a teammate Max Verstappenthe man who reached 14 wins in the 2022 season.

“It’s a big challenge to be his teammate, he’s at a very high level all weekend, we have to learn, we have to try to beat him, it’s certainly not an easy task, not everyone can do it. I think we’re getting closer and closer. I’ll have another chance next year,” he replied.

Regarding the Constructors’ Championship, he said that he is not taking anything for granted because there are still two races to go. Now Czech Perez is second in the Drivers’ Championship with 280 points to 275 Charles Leclercfrom Ferrari.

“It can change the race by race, we’re in a fight now,” he added.
